Heal with paint

This is a crummy photo-there's shine where there shouldn't be and I didn't crop it. I like the real painting because I painted something that was inside me, and painting it helped to heal-or start the healing. There's layers of paint, and I didn't really know how it would end-it's odd. I usually have a plan or a photo to paint from-or I'm looking at what I'm painting.

Everyone goes through hard things. No one is exempt from that.
I want to encourage you-
if you are in that place right now-
get out those paints or fabrics or clay and start to make something.
Let your senses take over and your brain shut out the heavy thoughts and hurts.
Creating heals.

First, I agree. Being creative is a healer, at least temporarily, for whatever ails a person. Trees are one of my favorite subjects, and I’m delighted you did this one from what you saw in your mind’s eye. It’s my favorite way to paint, and I also have many layers of paint on my canvases. It is oddly different than painting from reality or a physical image. I hope you enjoyed doing it tis way. You definitely achieved a believable, yet somewhat ethereal, image, I love it!

Oh this is lovely Debra - there's so much going on.
Goodness me you're so right about painting helping to heal. Its comforting too. I have had that experience too in such a profound way.
It is a source of joy - I learnt that also when I realised that the main thing is to love the act of painting for itself and not worry about the 'rules' of painting xx

I feel like these are "charred" trees. If this is about healing, perhaps this is the darkest deepest wound. It's good that you created it from your soul with no influence from "others" art. Your skill is a blessing. Perhaps you should pursue this method for a bit and see what happens.

Dear Debra,
First, thank you so much for your visit and prayers.
I see such emotion in this painting. I too, agree with you. Art has always been a healer with me. I get lost into what I am creating. My beloved husband use to tell me he could tell what mood I was in by my artwork. I believe this is true.
I will keep you in my prayers in hopes that all will lift from your shoulders and you will have peace.
blessings,
Penny
