Blue Jay feather

Blue Jay feather done in gouache.

I changed the name of this blog because I found 'Sometimes I Paint' was another blog's name and also a book by that name.

Penny the Duck is the new name.
My duck Penny was my pal when I was a kid.
Now I have one goose
and one dove.

I've had so many birds in my life.
I thank God for them.

I love the new name and the meaning it holds for you. This feather painting is telling me I need to think about painting differently. Such a small object, but so lovely and paintable. Every effort does not need to be a big one. You are way ahead of me!

A most lovely feather Debra. Its always so satisfying to paint what we enjoy in real life.

A good change of name. When my daughter was little my dad would take her up the block to the town Water Tower. She would collect feathers and bring them home to wash. Today she does not love birds like her mother.

What a lovely feather! And the splash of red enlivens the entire thing. :)
