Still painting birds stuff with gouache

Probably not photographed in a good light...
This took many hours. I struggle to paint.
It's hard work.
Gouache is so forgiving-you can work over stuff that's not so great, and make nice shadows and grading of colors.
I have learned so much. I think the things that 'work'
are things that happen by accident-but I learn from those happy mistakes too.

Thank you for visiting!

So very beautiful Debra, I'm so glad you visited. I really enjoy seeing what others paint.
There are always surprises just ready to happen as soon as we pick up our brushes! :D)

The detail in this is wonderful! I can see why it took so much time. I’ve never worked with gouache, it almost looks like watercolor in some Areas. It’s hard for me to picture a scene naturally happening exactly like this, but my feeling is of a mother keeping an eye on her “babies”. I’m still not ready to post what I’ve Done, in fact I actually had to start over. Some efforts are just not salvageable! Maybe I should try forgiving gouache. :) You inspire me, Debra.
