We are surrounded by ice. It's cold and we still have a good amount of snow too. I want to be cheerful in all of this-but I admit cabin fever is really getting the best of me.
I'm really thankful for being able to work on my art journals. I have been gathering old drawings and paintings from my sketchbooks to use in the journals (the cats are some old ink drawings of mine), and once in a while I paint a new painting. I just love how creative art and junk journals are. There are no rules to curb creativity-working in these books actually helps fuel the flame of drawing and painting. Just cutting and pasting helps!
So here are some of the things I'm working on:
A book about cats
And a book with the color red on each page.
Above 3: The book with red in it. I made the cover out of fabric with a manila folder in between the layers of fabric. (Monnie bean is my business name) I don't have the pages sewn to the cover yet. I think I'll do that last so I can be messy with the pages.
And here is the book about cats, made of an old book with pages torn out in a messy way. I wasn't careful at all tearing them out-It will be another grungy book, which is what I love most of all. I like the idea of weaving in story telling in my books. It helps me to have a theme. This story is about 2 cats-one is a city cat and the other is a country cat.
This is the unfinished cover of the cat book. I have just started this book, so I have a lot of work (fun!) to go yet, but I'd like to show the process as I go along.
Thank you so much for your visit!

It's colder today but sunny and nice. Keep creating and soon enough the snow will be gone. Have a great day.
Good morning, so happy you shared your journals with us-I think these are the perfect projects for winter time when it is cold and icy-snowy. we are back to winter again here-so I will have to clear a path up the steps and hill again through the ice-don't like it when I can't get up to the mailbox-sigh Happy friday and weekend
Fun cats, lounging in a book is so st attitude. :)
Ice everywhere here along with a crunchy layer of corn snow. No melting today. Brrr!
Beautiful journals, have big fun working on them. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
Nice cat faces and cat cartoons. They look neat on the yellowed old pages.

Ah Debra you inspire me sweet friend. Winter weather has been challenging and I think you have received the same as we have had here. So ready for spring. I love your junk journals and especially the cat one. Your creativity never fails to touch me. Take care and watch the ice!! Hugs!
A lot of fun to go for sure! It’s a lot of fun following along with you as you create your wonderful journals.
I was offline since midday yesterday due to an area wide outage at AT&T. Now I'm trying to catch up. I love what you are doing. I have always advised against decorating your cover until the book is finished. That's a wise plan on your part, too. I love the cat book so far. You are so creative. I can't draw (nor do I care to), so I greatly admire what you are doing. I also love that you are sewing or adding fabric to a red book. It's going to be beautiful and wonderfully abstract, too. Thanks for sharing the process as you create these beautiful pages. Debra.
Nothing better than to have fun projects to keep you busy when the weather is cold and unfriendly. There is something so comforting about allowing the creative side come to the fore and slipping into that zone of tactile pleasure--sewing, cutting, pasting, imagining. The cat book is delightful!
My daughter's 36th birthday this 18th~ we are doing a journal together of our favourite things... poems and drawings... each Christmas it switches and so we both get a turn until it is filled and then I think we will just start another one ~ indeed so much fun
🥰
Thank you for visiting my blog Debra, and leaving a comment so I could return the visit.
