I couldn't get the real colors in this painting to appear but I don't think it matters.
This will get gessoed over
and I hope I am learning what is me and what isn't. I'm not sure I learned anything else, but that lesson is valuable I think.
I spent many hours and hate it still.
I'm showing it because I don't want to show just the "good" stuff.
I don't think I am a good artist-I think I am a learning one that wants to find her own voice.
Just pass on commenting-it won't hurt my feelings a bit!
If there is anything I do like, it's his feet.

Critiques, taught in art class are positive constructive comments that help the artist.
Your artwork makes that approach easy.
Now if you were my real sister, I wouldn't hold back.
Compromise because this one is a toughy. The off part that might be why you don't like it...is...don't hate me...his tail feathers, talons apart, and big eyes look like he's engaged in fertilizering his environment. Smaller tail feathers.
All in all... I like it.
I thin this piece is very folk art, me personally don't care for the colors but in the end it is actually kinda cool-hugs
I like his eyes a lot! Actually, I like a lot about it more than the last post. Loose style of painting is working for you.
Just keep it going so you can post one you do really like!
Wonder how many times Vincent gessoed over one of his works? You are a favorite artist of mine.
I like your owl, and the luminous blue in the painting. Just keep o going till you find what speaks to you. Hugs, Valerie
Sorry to be so late visiting. Electrical outages twice in two days. I can see why you might not like it, but look at it as an abstract and you might see it in a different light. That's what I like about it!
But you know what? Your birds always have real expression in their eyes...and I know absolutely nothing about art. I think your painting is good.
Well sweet friend me thinks you are being too hard on yourself. Actually I like the complimentary colours. If you are going to gesso over it maybe just the parts you don't like. Your whimsical style always makes me happy. Hugs!
Lovely. The russet and the blue are such good contrasting colours. Its important be true to your own self....your own way...trouble is, it can take a long time to discover your own way. But it was there all the time...just what you did naturally. It can be a confusing journey at times. I am rambling a bit here!! All in all,,,I love this owl!
I love both your paintings. The colors are so vibrant and fun! Whimsical - that's it. These paintings make me smile.
