Gouache on claybord.
"Woman with Red Earrings"
For me, claybord is a very steep, hard learning curve. I have tried using acrylics on it-I hate it. So I tried gouache-using a bit of impasto technique, but more watery also.
Of course, there's tons wrong with this painting.
On my scale of grading, I give it a Bleah.
Next up would be Meh.
Top grade-Yup!

Lovely painting.
I love it! Your background is great and I really like her posture (am I weird or what?) and the intensity of her expression. Happy PPF
Hi Debra, you know you hit your folky mark with this one, right? She looks very pensive, and I give it a “Yup!” especially for her face. That she’s holding a bird completes the folky Debra connection!
Lovely work!
I'm giving it a 'yup '! Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
An impressive lady, Debra.
You have your own style, and I admire it. I understand that perfection is not the point.
Happy PPF and weekend ❤️
Be well ๐๐
Lovely painting, you titled it well.
Happy PPF. Thanks for dropping by my blog today
Much๐love
Lovely painting. I see her as clinging to hope while holding her bird close. Happy PPF!
She reminds me of farm lady-I like her
Well I am in the "yup" category. I think she is brilliant. I love the skin color and her eyes. I think you nailed it.
Well done!
Gouache I must try.
I think she's awesome!! Love her mood and pose!! Striking!!
Since I don't know some of the terms you use and she does look like she could stare someone down..ppf

Keep up the great work! ๐๐ป
I really like this portrait. Such a good expression on her face and I love anything with red beads. What is clayboard?
never heard of this clayboard before. Not sure we have them in Sweden. From a "how to" I found I think you did great, It seem to be suite hard to work with.
You're silly! I give it a "Yup." Her expression is priceless!
I really like her face!
Don't underestimate this painting friend. I like it and the red earrings makes it eye catching. Hope all is well and you are seeing warmer days. Hugs!
This is much better than you think. It has a fabulous modernist take.
I would truly like to paint with this freedom and expressive use of color.
Don’t part with it.
love the color combination....perfect
