I used sari ribbon for her dress top and sewed her in a primitive style. While I was sewing, I kept remembering when my grandma taught me to sew by hand. The stitches were awkward, uneven and untidy-but how I loved sewing! She was patient with each stitch and knot that I made. It wasn't long before my Barbie doll had skirts and tops-primitve ones-but there they were! And I made them! My grandma's patience went so far that she taught me to knit, crochet, embroider and sew my own clothes. It took me years to learn some things. She tried teaching me to tat-but I was truly lost. I have her tatting needles-if that's the correct word for them.

Oh Debra, I am so touched by your memories of your Grandmother. I also had a Grandmother proficient in needle arts, and I like to think I have inherited some of her love for such creative things. However, we did not live close by, so the times of working together were few. I love your moth girl, your imagination knows no bounds! What did you use for her hair? You are so good at primitive everything, especially faces!

Moth Girl is precious! She looks like a little friend to whom one could tell all their secrets. I love her wings...yummy brown velvet!
She has mohair for hair. It's a natural color-hasn't been dyed. It's almost got 3 colors in it. Prim is very hard for me to do. It looks easy, but it isn't. I struggle with it! But thank you!
She's a high flyer, Debra! Something about her shoes touches me. I tried tatting once, as should give it another go. Tatting can use needles or shuttles, I don't know where my shuttles are, but I had a couple. My great Aunt tatted, quilted, made pine straw vases; she was so creative and so skilled at anything.
She's lovely.

I love your Moth girl...those blue shoes for sure are eye catching. Your grandma sounds like mine. She helped me to learn to sew too. Always wanted to crochet but didn't seem to find the patience for that gift. Helped her quilt though and that was fun. Hope you have a great week. Hugs!
